Nikon 50mm f/1.8D Personal Review

Hi guys,

Yesterday, I finally got hold of a new lense (Nikon 50mm f/1.8D). This is a must have lense for Nikonians like me as it takes great or pin sharp photos at low light condition. Unlike Canon lense, this lense will not go AutoFocus for certain Nikon Models. That's why some of them tend to complain about it.

But in my opinion, a great photographer should have 100% control of its camera, lenses and flash light by doing things manually. Too dependent on Auto mode will basically lessen your skills or slows down your learning. To see full review of this lense, visit KenRockwell.com.
This lense is indeed takes time to handle. Since i got it yesterday, I tried it out on my son only once. The results were excellent although I have not produced a pin-sharp photo yet (Since it is my first time using it). The lense will give me a great advantage in wedding photography later, when taking the photos of wedding gift, faces of wedding couples and on stage activities.

Other than the pin-sharp quality, this lense has a good colour contrast. It can be seen from my photos here.
(my boy was admiring my lense- who knows, he might follow my footstep)
I like the photo above although the object was moving. Sometimes, when I show my photos to my friends, a few of them would provide negative comments. But, I believe in one thing - "Photography is an art and beauty is in the eyes of the beholders". Many professional photographers today claimed that there is no fixed rule for photography. The said, "never let people tell you what to do with your photo".

But again, it is good if people generally like and approve the beauty of your photo right? What do you think?

There is no fixed rule to any beauty. Photos, even people!

Congratulations on the new lens. I enjoy pictures that has no definite point to it! Like the moving pictures you mentioned. Sometimes it makes great outcome :).

CoffeeGirl > Blom dalam plan sebab blom tengok keperluan agik. My house can be my studio. Ahaks!

Norris > RM499 bro. Your wedding photos ada kelebihannya sendiri bro. No need to admire new photos. Haha This lense is not meant for group photo bro. It is not wide angle.

LadyViral > Yup definitely. Tapi just don't overdue it. Takut langsung hodoh photo kita. ahaks! Thanks!

A prime with a f/1.8 is a great lens.

It's true to never let people dictate how you photograph but it's also good to hear the critique of others so that we can learn a thing or two.
