Are we too proud?

When I was down with Cikhungunya fever a few weeks ago, I gave it a thought about life, particularly on how vulnerable we are to life-threatening danger and how fragile our earthly bodies are. God can just take away our life in an instant and this happened to YB Richard Riot political secretary who died of sudden heart attack while he was sitting in a 4WD car and also Din Beramboi who died suddenly due to a Hemorrhagic Dengue fever at a young age.

Now, in this world, I observe that there are some people who are just too proud of themselves, thinking that they are powerful, strong and rich. However, God can simply take out this pride by inflicting them with diseases and die at unexpected time and place. In the bible, King Pharoah proclaimed that he was God and right after he uttered the proclamation, he was struck to death by God and was eaten by worms on his throne.

No matter who you are, be it a politician, a businessman, an engineer, a rich tycoon, a pilot., trust me, when you are healthy, you think that people should salute you because of your job and wealth, but what happen when you are down with sickness? will you not be laying on the same hospital beds with those who are poor and uneducated? When I was sick, I saw many rich people went to the same private clinic as I did seeking for treatment. So, were they any different from me who are poor and drives a small car?

Being sick really makes us equal to others. Will your mouth be able to talk big when you can't even open your mouth in times if sickness? Will your hands be able to show off the middle fingers (as if you are strong) if all your joints and bones are in pain? Will you be able to eat in an expensive restaurants when your taste bud has gone in time of sickness? Remember, doctors will treat us as a patient and not as someone who are rich and powerful when we are in a hospital. We will just have to humbly submit our life to the hands of doctors, nurses and finally at the mercy of God. Therefore, let us not be too proud of our wealth, status or profession. Always think that we are all equal in the eyes of God. Be friendly, helpful and respect each other.

What inspired me to write the above is that, other than the sickness I experienced, I saw this old lady who was down with mental illness at Siburan. I told myself, that if God wants to pull my pride down and make me behave like a dog, He will surely do it as He pleases at anytime and any place.

(This was a photo of an old woman who has mental illness. She could be a normal person before and it is not that she wanted to be turn into that way. Remember, we are living in a fragile body. Anything can happen to us)

(I really feel sad for this woman. If only I have the expertise to help someone like this)

No matter who you are, we will return to the same place without any belonging.

Thanks for sharing, Willie. That was a very humbling post. The human body is indeed, a very fragile (and not to mention temporary) casing..

Our life here on earth is just borrowed. Only God knows when our time will run out. Let's make the most out of life.

Nothing last forever and yet we do have to make every moment worth it. Living on earth is temporary but leaving behind a legacy is forever.

Cherish life and cherish the opportunity we get to give back to society...

Robinson :Yes. I do hate snobbish people. And my cousin used to work in mental hospital before. He said, sometimes, they cannot keep the person in the hospital due to several reasons. They will have to let the family to care for them. But they do from time to time come to the house to check and provide them with medicine.

Kenwooi :Well...actually, being humble is a MUST. Hahaha

Rainfield : Yes. Dust to Dust. I agree with you brother.

Fahri :THanks lil. bro. Thus, be nice to others right?

Anney :That's true Anney and let us behave well too.

Daniel :It is true Daniel. I hope we all leave a legacy that our kids will cherish and keep.

Cath_J :Yes. We can always feel sad for that woman but it is even harder for the family members to care for her.

Ssembonge :Oh yes indeed!

BBHussain :I believe all religions teach that.

Foong :As long as we are in this earthly body, we are no better than others.

Ayie :Yes. Especially when it comes to work. But outside workplace, I guess we need to be good to all people right?

Manglish :That is true. Hahahah

nicely said.

We should all respect each other, and always remember that we are not always at the top.

I keep reminding myself that I may be good in something, but other people somewhere might be even better.

Life is indeed fragile. I've been to the hospital many times in the past few months because of my mom's illness and I've seen people dying of cancer or are there for some health reason or physical injury.

Willie a.k.a Reptoz said...

AiShiang : Yes. We need to appreciate every single day of our life.

Ivynana :Unexpected things happen right. So what ever it is, we need to be ready for everything.

Cyril :Thanks bro.

MeiTeng :Yeah...nobody is immortal in this world.

Becklee :I think you understand what i mean better.

Being rich doesn't mean will have more life. If we are arrogant, we won't have real friends or families who care bout us. Without friends and families when we are sick is worse than the illness itself.

this entry certainly touched my heart. You're very true. We can never tell what future holds for us. You were right, that there's no point of being too cocky in life, hence living a snobbish, up stuck life and see others less fortunate as maggots..nonetheless, world are filled with these people. Simple example, those sales assistant who's giving double standard service...

Good to hear that you've recovered. Be safe k..

Here, I'm helping my dept to promote this tagline, " Luangkan 10 minit Setiap Hujung Minggu" for getting rid of mosquitoes breeding areas.
