The water crisis in my kampong has not been resolved for decades. Our ex-Ketua Kampung (had just passed away - 24 May 09) was asking for water supply for many years from the government, but to no avail. The reason they gave was... it is too complicated to build the water supply / tank in our area and bla bla bla bla and da vida da loca! The funny thing is, our kampong is not far from the Serian or Tebedu town. We have to rely on the small river there. We take bath, wash our dishes and clothes there. But we can't do all these when the river is flooded or on high tide. And we can't really bath when the river is almost dry.

Sipitang on the other hand faced many-many years of water shortage. there's pipeline but no water coming out from your pipe. Unfortunately they dont really have a "good-clean" river to supply them with water which ended the villagers to built/buy/prepare their own tank at every home to store water whenever its rained. Yup, therefor no rain=no water. Luckily recently the Menteri made changes. thank God!
Your kampong is rather unfortunate for being denied the water supply though I can't imagine the trouble of washing clothes or dishes there, but the sight of those bathing there really attracts me.I just love the river coz I often swam there in my younger days so it brings back old memories.Great pictures.

Bathing and washing clothes in the river is not something I am used to. Water crisis is a serious problem. I hope something can be done to improve the situation. Given electricity or water disruption, I will always vote for electricity...coz water's really important to me.

You might need some handy water purifier tablets. In case you get too thirsty to boil the water before drinking hehe. Maybe there's no political target at your area which is why it's not exactly a priority to them :/ Not like the Bakin dam or something.

used to do this years ago in my village in the kampung. The advantage is that rivers are kept clean so that everyone can use it. The disadvantage now that the river is no longer the main source of water is that no one bothers about the river anymore.=(
