Last weekend, my wife was at work and I had to baby sit our little one at home. Since we were bored at home, so we decided to take a walk around Kuching.
(My son, 2 years & 6 months old)
Our first destination was the India Street, Kuching. I brought my son there because I intended to buy some stuff for my DSLR. People said, the photo studio (Empress Studio) sells plenty of camera items / accessories in Kuching. No other shops can beat them. I have to admit that after visiting the shop.
Well... back to India Street. In most countries, we probably heard of "China Town" but in Kuching, it is different. This place is called as an India Street because majority of the business here is operated by the Indians. Here, you will find lots of unique items and food...some of the things that you can find here are:
- Spices for curry
- Cloths for clothing
- Wedding itinerary / stuff
- Jewelery shops
- Mamak / Chinese / Malay restaurants etc...

Tourists come here a lot. Plenty of them. India Street is like a trademark for Kuching.
New shops are opening....I would say, it's a strategic business centre. That's why the Chinese are flocking to this place to open their business too.
So, after that, I brought my son to Sarawak Museum. I remembered when I was a kid, there was only ONE building for Sarawak Museum. But today, I heard they have seven to eight museums, such as the Cat Museum, The Art Musuem, The Chinese Museum, The Animal Museum and etc.... I brought my son there so that he will be exposed to our history. And I'm glad he loved it so much!
That's all for today. Welcome to Kuching folks. A nice place to visit, if you know where to go. Hehehe...

ahhh! India street.. A place where I used to bring my youngest bro. to buy shoes for his university studies.. he he :-)
NurEnjeL > It is colourful. Those people over there...like to colour their shops. Maybe to attract customers.
DesignationJazz > Siapakah itu...?
what i remember the most about india street is this one very sempit "pathway"... Can't remember where exactly... hehe
ah.. the smell of spices, minyak attar and minyak sapi along the road.. one I could never forget.
MysteriousWitch > hahaha...how could you forget?
Sumuk > Actually i can't stand the smell.
Nice shoot. Those pictures have thousand words to say.
Cool, too bad I don't know about India Street when I visited Kuching.
The shots of India St look different through your camera lens. Thumbs up!
We have Little India here too...an area in Masjid India. Sadly, our Chinatown is populated by foreigners manning stalls owned by the Chinese so I wouldn't dare say it's truly a Chinatown anymore.
I wanna go to Indian Street..Unfortunately hari tuh dah tutup.
I havent drop by India street for ages. Everytime my mum says "I'm going to india street", i'll go to some other shop.. and just be there to pick her up.
blinkky > Thousand words? Hehehe really?
Jacob > You were in Kuching? Too bad...
SiPenconteng > Hehehe..thanks.
MeiTeng > when a place is booming, definitely all sorts of people will come in.
SimpleSmarterMe > uih? Jam berapa u gi saner? Tmpt tu until night time...hehehe
