What If You Were Asked To...

"Willie, can you be our photographer for this Saturday staff's meeting? " Now, how would you respond to this question if you are not a person who take photographs for free and the fact that the school will expect you to use your expensive equipment? Oh well, without any hesitation, I answered "Yes, sure, no problem".

As a free lance photographer, unpaid task like this still have a few benefits:
a. To create network. When people see your photos and they love them, you'll get famous.
b. To build rapport. As business people, you need to be friendly to potential clients. When they are comfortable with you, they might need you in future to take wedding photos.
c. To show that you are easy to work with. I like to work with people, I don't want anybody to feel that I am a difficult person to work with.
d. But above all, naturally, I am person who cannot say NO to a request. Hahaha!

Talking about using expensive equipment, since the school will not pay me, I will,
a. use only digicam to take photos.
b. edit a few photos only. But if I were to edit, I will do it seriously. Just look at the photos I edited below,

  5. If the school or management has no or limited budget, can help them for free.

I won't do it if I feel the management is exploitative.

  11. I also can't say NO to a request. Guess we have that in common, and I should be happy about it, but then again, no being able to refuse someone isn't really a good thing.

  12. And because they know you're a good photographer that's why they ask you a favor. Plus you're also one of the staff, right? They benefit from you, hehee.

Sometimes we need to edit the photos but most of the time to enhance the color. Nice photos!

  17. Even with compact cam, the result is still of quality. Thumbs up Willie :)

When I was still with my previous school, it never bothered me when asked to be photog for free cos I wasn't doing freelance photography business anyway (except when following the hubby). It was expected of me to bring my DSLR to any school events without even being told to do so. :)
