One of the joyous occassion for students is to receive their scroll after years of hardwork and spending their money on education. Our guest of honour yesterday was our Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam. In his impromptu speech, he said "A scroll of acedemic ceritificate does not guarantee success in life but it is a Bonus to yourself" Well...he is right, I have a Master Degree but i still consider my self not successful yet. But because of my Master Degree i easily get a job. Hehehe...
The event was very meaningful and eventful. There were performances by the Gamelan team and also from the Gemilang choir team which was lead by my fellow lecturer, Mr Ryan Alphosus. Mr Ryan is indeed the only person who can train choir team, where most of us would reject that duty. Bravo to him.

On our 12th Convocation (the name of our university is still kept secret.Hehehe) a total of 480 students graduated. Next year, we expect around 600 students to graduate because our new programmes are still on the way. This joyous ocassion was held in the old Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) located at Petra Jaya. Many other important guests were also present.
(Preparing for lecturers' walk of fame)

Very well said by the professor. A college degree is in no way a guaranteed of success in life, hard work and luck make you successful. Continuing a higher education requires dedication and commitment and of course finally graduation is a big reward and accomplishment.
